GB's Fran Halsall comfortably through to World 50m butterfly semi-finals

Great Britain's Fran Halsall comfortably qualifies fifth fastest for the 50m butterfly semi-finals at the World Championships in Kazan.

Great Britain's Fran Halsall has made it through to the 50m butterfly semi-finals in her first individual event at the World Championships in Kazan.

The 25-year-old, who won gold in this event at the Commonwealth Games last year, finished strongly to top heat six in 25.96s.

World-record holder Sarah Sjostrom of Sweden was able to bring down the time and qualify fastest overall by winning the final heat in 25.43s.

Halsall has already won gold this week, having been part of Britain's successful mixed 4x100m relay team.
