Fran Halsall is hoping for gold in the individual sprints following her disappointment in the butterfly.

Team GB swimmer Fran Halsall has spoken of her determination to win gold in the individual sprints.

Halsall failed to make the final in the 100m butterfly but hopes to forget that performance with a gold in tonight's 100m freestyle.

"It's important that I get the touch on the wall first and I've been growing my nails to get there first," said Halsall.

"I want to go out tonight and give it my best shot. I'll be there or thereabouts gritting my teeth but I want the win. I'm in the final and that's all that matters. Plus I've got more to give."

Halsall had been tipped as one of Team GB's main medal hopes in the swimming pool before the Games.
