Good afternoon and welcome to Sports Mole's live coverage from the third day of the women's synchronised swimming.
London's Aquatics Centre plays host to the women's duets final and Team GB's Jenna Randall and Olivia Federici are hoping to make the podium.
Russia's Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina go into the final as the firm favourites after finishing top of the pile during the qualification rounds.
4.18pmThat's all from me here today. We'll be back to cover the group event on Thursday. Do join us then!
4.16pmThe Russians take the gold with a score of 197.10, Spain claim silver on 192.90, and bronze goes to China on 192.87. Team GB's Jenna Randall and Olivia Federici finish in an admirable ninth.
4.14pmThey did all they could, but eclipsing the Chinese was a big ask. They end up with 93.54 for a total of 186.74. That keeps them in fifth.
4.12pmInch-perfect precision from them, but will that be enough?
4.10pmJapan close the competition. They will have to deliver something special to take that third place away from China.
4.08pmThe judges award them 96.90 and a total of 192.90. That's the silver medal for them!
4.04pmIt's a frantically-paced performance that has found favour with the crowd, who are clapping along with the upbeat music.
4.03pmHere come the Spanish, who are in the hunt for silver, with a tango-themed repertoire.
4.02pmThey were in first place going into this, and a score of 98.90 today will keep them there. They have 197.10, and that is surely the gold medal in the bag.
4.01pmWell they've won me and the crowd over, and I'm sure the judges will feel much the same way.
4.00pmA fantastic performance from the world and European champions. They synchronisation and execution has been flawless so far.
3.58pmTheir theme is puppets, with music from the films Suspiria, Amelie and Sleepy Hollow - none of which have any puppets in them. Though I could be wrong about Amelie as I've never seen it.
3.57pmHere come Russia's Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina. Prepare to be blown away!
3.55pmAn innovative performance from them backed by a foreboding score. The judges rate that at 92.67 giving them 184.87 overall. They move into third place with three duets still to swim!
3.52pmThe Ukrainians are performing to a classical piece called Alone in the Dark, which probably isn't based on the survival-horror video game released for PC in the early 1990s.
3.50pmThe judges rate their performance at 94.62 for a total of 189.12. We give them full marks for their jester costumes, but that won't be taken into account.
3.47pmIt's expressive, theatrical and crowd-pleasing, but the synchronisation is not perfect.
3.45pmThe Canadians are up now, continuing yesterday's jester-themed repertoire. This will be a very colourful performance.
3.43pm96.77 for them today and 192.87 overall. That puts them into first position.
3.42pmThis one alternates between graceful twirls and dramatic shapes. They have interpreted the music well and will score high for artistry.
3.41pmHuang Xuechen and Liu Ou are performing a dragon-themed piece. Let's hope it doesn't dragon too long.
3.38pmThey earn an 89.17 for a total of 177.27. That puts them into third place, and although they are unlikely to stay they, they have done Britain proud!
3.36pmThey really upped their game here today, and the crowd goes crazy. That will certainly rack up a higher score than yesterday.
3.35pmIt veers between dramatic and dreamlike. They have remained in unison while pulling off some powerful and complex moves.
3.33pmJenna Randall and Olivia Federici launch into a routine inspired by the ravens from the Tower of London. The music they have chosen in by the Chemical Brothers. Let's hope they can push the judges' buttons with this.
3.30pmIt was strong on the whole, but they faltered very slightly at the end. The judges award them with a 89.36, giving them 178.56 and putting them in third place. Britain up next!
3.30pmIt was strong on the whole, but they faltered very slightly at the end. The judges award them with a 89.36, giving them 178.56 and putting them in third place. Britain up next!
3.29pmThere are some very complex movement patterns in this one, but they are making them look simplistic. Good synchronisation so far.
3.26pmThe Greeks launch into their routine. It's backed my music composed by Alberto Iglesias and their theme is 'The Speed of Life', whatever that means.
3.24pmThey earn 90.72 for today, giving them 181.42 in total. That puts them in pole position for the time being.
3.22pmTop marks for synchronisation so far. The choreography isn't too shabby either!
3.20pmItaly's Giulia Lapi and Mariangela Perrupato are performing a routine inspired by the great Mexican artist Frida Kahlo.
3.19pmThey are awarded 87.25 for a total of 172.95. That puts them into third. They are unlikely to start they, but did themselves proud.
3.17pmAnd they build up to a grand finale, which will impress the judges.
3.14pmPark Hyunha and Park Hyunsun from South Korea launch into a jungle-themed repertoire. It's a swift and energetic one. They are nailing the movements.
3.11pmThey earn 87.77 for their performance and end up with a total of 175.670. They are ranked below France.
3.09pmIt's dazzling and powerful, but may be a little heavy on splash for the judges' liking. We shall see...
3.07pmAn Olympic-themed routine from the American's coming up. They are using John Williams's famous Olympic Fanfare as their backing music.
3.04pmA great show from them. Very elegant and graceful. Combined with their mark from the technical round, they end up with a 176.20. Will that be good enough for the podium? Well, it depends what they others do here today.
3.01pmIt's a ballet-inspired routine performed to music from Swan Lake. They demonstrate some impressive turns and synchronisation.
3.01pmThe French are up first, they are performing as swans. Let's hope they aren't as vicious. One of them almost took my arm off once!
2.56pmWe'll be under way momentarily. 12 pairs will compete today, with their scores combining with those from Sunday's technical programme.
2.47pmRussia's Natalia Ishchenko and Svetlana Romashina are the clear favourites here today, but the Spanish, the Chinese and the Japanese will be in the hunt for precious metal too.
2.45pmRussia have dominated synchronised swimming since it became a competitive Olympic sport, and that trend looks like it is set to continue.
2.44pmTeam GB's Jenna Randall and Olivia Federici impressed us during the qualification rounds, but will have to dig deep if they want to reach the podium. The competition here is steep!
2.40pmGood afternoon and welcome to our live coverage of the synchronised swimming women's duets final.
