Erraid Davies has admitted that she did not know what to expect ahead of the SB9 100m breaststroke final in Glasgow on Sunday.
Scotland's youngster ever competitor went on to finish only behind Sophie Pascoe and Madeline Scott on her way to a bronze medal, and the 13-year-old claims that it was a case of leaving everything in the pool after a difficult start to the race.
"It was just amazing," Davies told reporters. "I didn't really expect anything, but I knew there was a chance of a medal so I just kind of went for it. I was second last at the 50 but I just hammered the last 50.
"I live too far away from a pool to do morning training, so I train afternoon and late night every day. I didn't really know how to tell my schoolmates, but they know now and I've had lots of messages. I was a bit nervous going up to get the medal. I had my first Irn-Bru of the Games to celebrate."
Davies is the youngest competitor taking part in this summer's Games.
