British Olympian David Carry has announced his retirement from swimming with immediate effect.
The 31-year-old reached the final of the men's 400m freestyle at the recent Games in London.
Reflecting on his performance in the capital, Carry admitted that he could not have ended his career on a better note.
"After 10 years in the sport I am thrilled with how I performed at the Olympics," he told reporters. "It was a fitting end to my career. To be able to swim so well in my last competition was fantastic."
Carry recently wed fellow Team GB member Keri-Anne Payne.
