Japan's Daiya Seto has made history at the FINA Swimming World Championships by winning his fifth world title in the men's 400m individual medley.
The 27-year-old held off the challenge of Ilia Borodin to continue his dominance in the event, clocking a time of 3:56.26 to win his seventh gold at a Short Course World Championships, two of which have now come this year in Abu Dhabi.
Seto's feat sees him join James Hickman in the history books as the only men to have won the world title in the same event five times.
More records also tumbled on the penultimate day in the pool, with Canada's Maggie Mac Neil setting a new world record to win gold in the women's 50m backstroke, the 21-year-old finishing in 25.27s.
Great Britain's Molly Renshaw missed out on a medal as she finished fifth in a women's 100m breaststroke final won by 17-year-old Chinese athlete Qianting Tang.
At the other end of the age range, 41-year-old Brazilian Nicholas Santos won his fifth Short Course World Championship gold overall and third in the men's 50m butterfly, 20 years after making his World Championship debut.
Canada's Sydney Pickrem won the women's 200m medley, while there was a dead heat in the men's 4x50m medley relay as USA and the Russian Swimming Federation shared gold.
Canada's fine championships continued in the final race of the day too, as their women won the 4x200m freestyle relay ahead of USA and China.
