China's Yang Sun took home the gold medal in the men's 400m freestyle.

China's Yang Sun took home the gold medal in the men's 400m freestyle.

Sun became the first Chinese man to secure the top prize in the event with a time of 3:40.14, marginally short of the world record.

Taehwan Park of South Korea bagged the sliver with a time of 3:42.06, while American Peter Vanerkaay was awarded bronze for his 3:44.69 finish.

Great British hopeful David Carry could only manage seventh place, finishing in 3:48.62.
