Melanie Schlanger has hailed the efforts of her teammates after Australia broke the world record in Thursday's 4x100m freestyle relay.
Bronte Campbell, Emma McKeon and Cate Campbell joined Schlanger in taking over seven tenths of a second off the previous record, and the 27-year-old struggled to describe the feeling of winning gold after the race.
"To know that you're in best in the world, that's pretty out there," Schlanger told Channel Ten. "I can't really put it into words.
"All the hard work that we do as swimmers, all the laps, this is what it's for."
England set a new British record to finish behind the victorious Australian side.
