Australian swimmer Meagen Nay pulls out of Glasgow Commonwealth Games

Reigning Commonwealth champion Meagen Nay and Paralympic star Jacqui Freney pull out of Australia's swim team for Glasgow 2014.

Australia's Meagen Nay has pulled out of her nation's 59-strong swim team for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games later this month due to a shoulder problem.

The 25-year-old, who won two gold medals at the Delhi Games in 2010, will be unable to defend her title, while Paralympic gold medallist Jacqui Freney has also withdrawn due to fatigue.

Australian Commonwealth Games Association chief executive Perry Crosswhite said: "It's disappointing for both Meagen and Jacqui to miss the Games due to injury, especially this close to the start of competition, and we wish both athletes well in their recovery."

Madison Wilson and Lakeisha Patterson have been called up as replacements.
