Ronnie O'Sullivan thrashes Barry Hawkins to reach final of World Championships

Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan reaches his third consecutive World Championship final by thrashing last year's runner-up Barry Hawkins 17-7 at The Crucible.

Defending champion Ronnie O'Sullivan continued his seamless path to the World Championship final by thrashing Barry Hawkins 17-7 at The Crucible.

In a rematch of last year's final, 'The Rocket' won the first four frames of the day to race into a 10-2 lead and finished the game off with a session to spare.

Four breaks above fifty in the evening helped O'Sullivan reach Sunday's showdown, where he will face either Mark Selby or Neil Robertson.

O'Sullivan has now won consecutive matches by a 10-frame margin, and easily dispatched of Robin Hull in the first round, with his only test coming in the second round with a 13-10 win over Joe Perry.

The 38-year-old has now reached three successive finals at The Crucible, winning the last two.
