Rob Howley is pleased with how Wales coped in difficult wet conditions to beat Italy in the Six Nations yesterday.

Rob Howley has said that Wales adapted well to wet conditions in their 26-9 win over Italy in the Six Nations yesterday.

Heavy rain at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome made for difficult playing conditions, but second-half tries from Jonathan Davies and Alex Cuthbert ensured a win for the reigning champions.

The interim head coach told Sky Sports News: "I am very pleased. We adapted really well to the conditions and the deluge. We showed patience and composure and we took our opportunities.

"Our scrum was very impressive and gave us the platform. International rugby is about fine margins, and it was testament to the attitude of the players [yesterday] and their application in difficult conditions."

The win leaves Wales second in the championship.
