Scotland fail with Finn Russell appeal

Scotland fly-half Finn Russell remains banned for two weeks following an unsuccessful appeal.

Scotland have failed in their appeal to overturn fly-half Finn Russell's two-week ban for a dangerous tackle on Wales's Dan Biggar.

Russell was given the punishment last week following his side's narrow defeat to Wales in the Six Nations on February 15.

An independent Six Nations disciplinary committee decided that the 22-year-old should have been sent off for the challenge on Biggar instead of receiving the yellow card that he was shown.

Despite an appeal from Scotland, Russell remains suspended from playing rugby until March 2.

The Scots continue their Six Nations campaign on Saturday when they welcome Italy to Murrayfield.
