Alex Waller 'unaware' of latest Premiership appearance milestone

Alex Waller admits that his milestone achievement of reaching 100 consecutive appearances in the Aviva Premiership is something that passed him by at the time.

Alex Waller has confessed that he "had no idea" of his latest achievement for Northampton Saints until after his side's meeting with Bath Rugby.

The 25-year-old became the first player to make 100 consecutive appearances in Premiership rugby when running out at the Recreation Ground on Saturday.

Waller had already reached a record of 88 unbroken outings midway through last season, but he was unaware of the century milestone which was racked up in the narrow 13-11 victory.

"I had no idea until I was told after the game," he told the Saints' official website. "I'm just thrilled to be involved that much; I've been a bit lucky with injuries, and hopefully that can continue in the future.

"I don't do anything different to anyone else, it just so happens that I've been involved. I love playing every second for this club and here's to a hundred more! We'll have to see though."

Waller, capped twice for the England Saxons, initially burst through Northampton's ranks in 2009.
