Richard Cockerill downbeat despite important Leicester Tigers win

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill hits out at his side's "ordinary" performance after seeing them earn a bonus-point win over London Welsh.

Leicester Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill has claimed that his side played poorly during their important win over London Welsh in the Aviva Premiership.

The Tigers moved into the playoff places on Saturday as they earned a bonus-point victory against the 14-man Exiles.

Despite boosting their hopes of securing a top-four finish, Cockerill believes that Leicester put in an average performance to get the win.

"The first half was very disappointing after a good start; the second half better. But it was a poor game of rugby," he told BBC Sport. "They played negatively. There was some relatively inconsistent refereeing and we were inaccurate.

"We turned the ball over and did not play the stuff we practised. We got what we deserved and were behind at half time. The way we played was pretty ordinary. Put all that into the mix and it was a poor spectacle."

Leicester are back in action on May 9 when they make the trip to Wasps in the league.
