Italy captain Sergio Parisse has no doubts that his side deserved their win over France in the opening match to their Six Nations campaign.
Luciano Orquera scored 10 points with the boot, while tries from the skipper and Martin Castrogiovanni gave the hosts a 23-18 win over the French.
The Italians were reduced to 14 men late on when Davide Giazzon was sin-binned, but the home side manage to hold on to the victory.
"If they'd scored in the last minute we would have been really disappointed - we deserved that victory," Parisse told BBC Sport.
"I'm happy to score, but it was good day for the whole team.
"We defended really well."
Italy travel to Scotland on Saturday for their next match in the competition.
