Harlequins bring in Tim Swiel on short-term deal

Harlequins sign Tim Swiel on a four-month loan deal from South African side the Sharks as cover for injured fly-half Ben Botica.

Harlequins have signed fly-half Tim Swiel on a loan deal from South African side The Sharks.

The 21-year-old joins until February 2015 as cover for Ben Botica, who injured his shoulder in an 'A' team match earlier this month.

"While we are very disappointed to lose Ben Botica to injury, I am delighted to be able to bring in someone of Tim's ability from The Sharks at such short notice," Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea told reporters.

"Tim is a player with real X factor who we are sure will fit within how we play and we look forward to welcoming him to the Twickenham Stoop."

England-born Swiel recently rejected the chance to play for South Africa Under-20s in order to keep his international options open.
