Conor O'Shea: 'England can't write off Chris Robshaw'

Conor O'Shea warns England not to write off the ability of flanker Chris Robshaw.

Harlequins director of rugby Conor O'Shea has warned new England coach Eddie Jones that he cannot write off the ability of Chris Robshaw.

The flanker came under fire for his performances at the Rugby World Cup, where the host nation crashed out in the group stages for the first time in the tournament's history.

However, speaking after Quins' narrow defeat at Exeter Chiefs, O'Shea singled out Robshaw for praise and reckons the back-rower still has plenty to offer to the national side.

He is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "I hope people take a long, hard look before they start writing him off.

"He has been one of the outstanding back-row forwards in this country for many a year. I don't normally single out players but he made yards today when you didn't think he could make yards.

"He was turning the ball over, he was tackling, he was working. I am gutted for us as a team, but I am incredibly proud of the performance."

Robshaw first captained England at the start of the 2012 Six Nations.
