Peter O'Mahony: Jordi Murphy 'can handle England physicality'

Ireland flanker Peter O'Mahony backs youngster Jordi Murphy to stand up to England's "hugely physical" pack when they meet in the Six Nations on Sunday.

Ireland forward Jordi Murphy can cope with the "hugely physical" England back row in Sunday's Six Nations clash, according to teammate Peter O'Mahony.

The defending champions meet Stuart Lancaster's side in Dublin in what could be grand slam decider, and O'Mahony believes that while their opponents' strength is up front, Murphy is well equipped to deal with any attacking threat in that area.

O'Mahony is quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: "Jordi is a quality player - he's well rounded, well able to carry hard and do the grunt-work, but he's got a good set of skills. He's got a lovely pass and he's a good lineout option - he's a quality all-rounded player.

"England are a hugely physical side and that always starts with your pack. Guys like [James] Haskell have brought a huge physicality to what they do. [Billy] Vunipola, guys like [Dave] Attwood are really stepping up to the mark.

"They are physical guys - they are always looking to get them on the front foot. Whenever England are on the front foot, it stems from their pack."

England won on their last visit to the Aviva Stadium, with Owen Farrell kicking them to a 12-6 victory in 2013.
