England coach Stuart Lancaster admits that he is encouraged by his side's display during their 19-12 defeat to Wales at Twickenham in the Six Nations.

England coach Stuart Lancaster admitted that he was pleased with his team's display, despite a 19-12 defeat to Wales at Twickenham in the Six Nations.

The inexperienced hosts matched their opponents for large parts of the match before Scott Williams's 75th-minute try condemned them to their first defeat of the tournament.

"Part of developing a side is giving them experience and I think both sides will look back at the game and wonder about what they could have done differently," Lancaster told BBC Sport.

"Wales are a team who have been together a long, long time and we are a team that has been together for three weeks. We should take great credit from that."

England continue their campaign on Sunday, March 6 when they travel to France.
