Billy Vunipola denies making claims about rumoured disharmony in England camp

Billy Vunipola denies reports that he made "negative" comments about the alleged disharmony in the England camp during the Rugby World Cup.

England number eight Billy Vunipola has denied that he made suggestions during a recent interview that there was disharmony in the camp during the Rugby World Cup.

The home nation were knocked out of the tournament in the pool stage after suffering defeat to Australia at Twickenham on Saturday.

There have been rumours that some players felt that backs coach Andy Farrell took more charge of tactics and selection than head coach Stuart Lancaster.

It has been reported that the camp were divided when it came to selecting Sam Burgess, with some players thinking that his lack of rugby union experience would hamper them.

During a Q&A session on Thursday night, Vunipola, who withdrew from the squad last week with a knee injury, is alleged to have made similar comments, but has now denied doing so.

He tweeted: "Hearing some rumours that I've been saying negative stuff about England. Laughable! would never say anything negative about the boys or staff. We gave everything we had, just wasn't enough and we all take responsibility."

England will play Uruguay in their final pool game on Saturday.
