Tom Wood will reportedly take the England captaincy from Chris Robshaw for the autumn internationals against Australia, Argentina and New Zealand.
Harlequins flanker Robshaw wore the armband for England's Six Nations campaign, during which they won their opening four matches before losing to Wales and missed out on the trophy.
However, the Daily Mail claims that head coach Stuart Lancaster is not convinced of Robshaw's place in the team and will appoint Wood as skipper instead.
The same source reports that Lancaster is considering selecting Gloucester openside flanker Mat Kvesic, who impressed in the tour of Argentina, during which Wood deputised as captain.
England are now prepared to give the Northampton Saints forward the role on a full-time basis, but will not make an announcement on their decision until closer to the game against Australia on November 2.
