Team GB's Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter win silver in the men's lightweight double sculls.

Team GB's Zac Purchase and Mark Hunter have won silver in the men's lightweight double sculls.

After leading for the entire race, Purchase and Hunter were edged out in the final 100m by world champions Denmark, but the GB pair were fortunate to be able to compete in the final.

The race was initially halted after 100m when a broken seat caused the Team GB's boat to stop, but because the incident occurred in the opening 100m, the race was able to be restarted.

Purchase and Hunter held a single second's lead at the 500m mark, and despite that lead being halved, they maintained their advantage until the halfway mark.

They looked to be powering to victory, but Denmark began to claw their lead back and they just pipped Purchase and Hunter on the line, with New Zealand winning bronze.
