Sir Steve Redgrave is confident that the men's and women's rowing teams will collect a total of seven medals during London 2012.

Sir Steve Redgrave is confident that Great Britain can do a clean sweep in the rowing finals this week.

Britain, who have yet to win a gold medal at London 2012, are expected to add their first top honour to the table today in the women's pair final with Heather Stanning and Helen Glover.

The men's eight are also expected to clinch a medal later this afternoon. However, Germany are slight favourites to snatch the gold.

"I think we are going to win seven medals over the next four days and it could even be better than that," BBC Sport quotes Redgrave as saying. "We are almost guaranteed four golds and if everything goes extremely well it could be five.

"Waiting around those last two or three hours before a race is hell. When you are out in the boat you are in your zone and it is sheer hell for those watching."

Redgrave won five Olympic gold medals during his rowing career.
