Jockey Martin Dwyer's increased eight-month ban has been reduced to the original period of eight weeks following a hearing in India.
The 38-year-old was initially banned for 56 days after it was ruled that he had not ridden odds-on favourite Ice Age on her merits at Mahalaxmi racecourse, where he rode the filly to third place on February 17.
He appealed the original ban, which was then extended by the stewards of the Royal Western India Turf Club.
However, an appeal board of the RWITC has now shown some leniency at the jockey's hearing at Pune racecourse.
Dwyer now intends to appeal to the British Horseracing Authority to ask them not to enforce the ban in Britain.
Professional Jockeys Association chief executive Paul Struthers tweeted: "It is still a disgraceful decision and the RWITC have gone totally against their own rules by failing to uphold Martin's appeal in full.
"An application will be made to BHA press office on Monday requesting the ban is not reciprocated and for stay of penalty pending hearing."
