West Ham United forced to play remainder of home games behind closed doors?

A report claims that West Ham United may be forced by the Football Association to play their remaining four home league matches behind closed doors.

The Football Association will reportedly consider forcing West Ham United to play the remainder of their home matches behind closed doors following the ugly scenes that marred their defeat to Burnley.

United chiefs are understood to have called an emergency meeting in the wake of Saturday's 3-0 loss at the London Stadium, which saw supporters' frustration boil over in the second half.

A small number of fans made it onto the field, with one being confronted by skipper Mark Noble, and serious questions have been asked of the level of security at the 57,000-capacity ground.

According to the Daily Mail, the FA is considering whether to make United play their remaining four home games - starting with the visit of Southampton - in front of empty stands, as the club cannot guarantee adequate security arrangements.

Security matters are in the hands of LS185, and West Ham cannot ensure that their meeting with the Saints on March 31 will pass without major incident.

The report indicates that a cap on the capacity is also being considered.
