West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady apologises for club's predicament

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady says that the club's board takes full responsibility for their current predicament.

West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has apologised to the club's supporters for their recent troubles on and off the pitch.

There were several pitch invasions during the Hammers' 3-0 home defeat to Burnley last weekend as fans protested against the way the club is being run and the team's dismal form.

Addressing the incidents in an interview with The Sun, Brady described the Burnley defeat as "one of the most painful days in the history of the club" and said that the West Ham board take full responsibility for the team's predicament.

"Let me be frank. The board takes full responsibility for our predicament," she said. "Ultimately the table does not lie and just like the team we are judged on our position.

"Every fan has a view on players, manager and team formation but it is our job to put in place a structure that allows our players and team management to secure the necessary results."

Sections of the West Ham support have criticised the club's board for a perceived reluctance to invest in the team, but Brady went on to insist that their spending and wage bill "compares with [that of other] top-flight Premier League clubs".

West Ham are currently 16th place in the league table, three points away from the bottom three.
