West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has agreed to cycle to Paris as part of a charity event raising money for Cure Leukaemia.

The 32-year-old is currently working his way back to fitness from a serious knee injury, but is not expected to return to football until October.

In the meantime, Foster has promised former Crystal Palace midfielder Geoff Thomas, who won his battle against leukaemia, that he will cycle from London to Paris for the charitable cause.

Thomas, who played for West Brom's rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers during his career, has agreed to wear a Baggies shirt if Foster raises £50,000.

"I have done a couple of 80kms and maybe a 100km, but never 80 miles a day on four successive days," the Birmingham Mail quotes Foster as saying.

"Most of the other players have been asking me - what are you thinking?! You probably need to like your cycling to understand. When you couple it with the fact it's for a super, worthwhile charity, it was a no-brainer for me to get involved."

The ride will take place from June 18 to 22.
