Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips gets into a Twitter spat with One Direction star Niall Horan following his nation's defeat to Ireland in the Six Nations.

Wales scrum-half Mike Phillips has got involved in a spat with One Direction star Niall Horan following his side's defeat to Ireland in the Six Nations on Saturday.

The 31-year-old was at the centre of a scuffle that included members from both teams during his nation's 26-3 defeat to Ireland on Saturday.

While watching the game, Irishman Horan tweeted: "Mike Philips is like a child throwing his toys out of the pram! his attitude is terrible, looks like a right arrogant idiot."

Phillips responded by writing: ".@NiallOfficial come down to training in the week big boy. Bring the rest of The Beatles with you."

The scrum-half then took a lighter approach to the situation when Ireland full-back Rob Kearney tweeted the former X Factor singer that he 'had his back' during the row.
