Danny Rose 'fined £130,000' by Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose is reportedly fined £130,000 following his controversial interview with The Sun.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Danny Rose has reportedly been fined around £130,000 by the club following his controversial interview with The Sun earlier this week.

The 27-year-old appeared to criticise his side for a lack of activity in the transfer market this summer - Spurs are the only Premier League side not to have made a signing - and also hit out at owner Daniel Levy's strict wage structure, which caps player pay at £100,000 a week.

The England international subsequently issued an apology for his "ill-judged" comments but, according to The Sun, he has now been docked two weeks' wages for the outburst.

The newspaper claims that he was hauled in front of director of football operations Rebecca Caplehorn to receive a ticking-off for the interview, which was arranged without the club's knowledge.

Rose is said to have received "a hero's welcome" from his teammates, however, who "applauded" him for voicing general concerns in the Spurs dressing room about Levy's pay policy.

In the wake of the incident, Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is said to have prioritised the signing of Rose in the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
