Legendary Southampton manager Lawrie McMenemy has revealed that he is "disgusted and horrified" by the allegations of child sex abuse at his club in the '80s and '90s.
The 80-year-old was in charge of the south coast club from 1973 to 1985 and set up the coaching network which went on to employ Bob Higgins, who has been accused of using his role to abuse young players.
"As a parent, never mind a football manager, I am absolutely disgusted and horrified," McMenemy told The Sun.
"I have every sympathy with the victims. I have to congratulate Andy Woodward, the lad who came forward first. I watched him on TV and you could see the effect it had had on him."
Southampton have been working with police to aid with their investigations into the alleged incidents.
