Katie Hopkins criticises Jessica Ennis-Hill for opinion on Ched Evans rape

Columnist Katie Hopkins criticises Jessica Ennis-Hill for asking Sheffield United to remove her name from the Bramall Lane stand should they re-employ rapist Ched Evans.

Controversial newspaper columnist Katie Hopkins has hit out at Olympic champion Jessica Ennis-Hill for being against Ched Evans's return to football following his rape conviction.

The 28-year-old released a statement last week calling for Sheffield United to remove her name from the stand at Bramall Lane if they re-employ the Welsh player.

Evans was released from prison in October after serving half of a five-year sentence for raping a 19-year-old woman at a hotel.

In response to Ennis-Hill's views, Hopkins, who has given her backing to Evans, wrote on Twitter: "Jessica Ennis is Supreme judge in the court of public opinion. Being able to run fast & jump high makes you super qualified. Who knew?"

Meanwhile, police are investigating after a Twitter user sent a message claiming that they hoped Evans would rape Ennis-Hill after her warning to the Blades.
