Cristiano Ronaldo's mother has revealed that she wanted to have an abortion when she fell pregnant with the now-Ballon D'Or winner.
Dolores Aveiro made the confession in her book, titled Mother Courage, and added that her doctor refused to help her terminate the pregnancy.
Ronaldo's mother claimed that she drank warm beer and did intense exercise in a bid to abort her child, who has become one of the best footballers in the world.
According to the Daily Star, during her book launch in Portugal, Aveiro admitted that her son laughs about her planned abortion. She said: "He told me when he found out, 'Look mum, you wanted to abort and now I'm the one who's pulling the purse-strings in the house.'"
The 29-year-old was developed at Manchester United before moving to the Bernabeu in 2009.
