The evidence given by a key witness for the prosecution has been heavily criticised by Oscar Pistorius's defence lawyer Barry Roux.
The Paralympic athlete has arrived in court in Pretoria for day three of the trial, in which he is accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day last year.
Pistorius, who has pleaded not guilty to murdering the South African model, maintains that he mistook Steenkamp for an intruder when he fired four gunshots through a bathroom door in his home.
Charl Johnson, who is the husband of the first witness Michelle Burger, told the court that he heard a woman screaming after the final gunshot in the early hours of February 12, 2013.
Mr Roux has challenged his evidence by claiming that some of his words in court were not included in his initial witness statement.
According to Sky News, Mr Roux said: "In your evidence you described the woman screaming. You said you could hear the fear. What is significant is that in your wife's testimony, she said she could hear the woman's intense fear in her screams. Yet this is not in your statement.
"When you gave evidence yesterday, it was not stated in your statement but you now speak about the scream after the last shot. I think you don't know what you are saying. You are saying all the evidence that your wife gave us yesterday."
Mr Johnson also told the court that he was surprised to discover that Pistorius had been arrested as he believed that there had been a house break-in because he heard both a woman and man scream.
