The parents of Reeva Steenkamp, who was shot dead by Oscar Pistorius, suggest that the South African model had a "premonition" that she was going to be murdered.

The family of the late girlfriend of Oscar Pistorius, Reeva Steenkamp, have suggested that the model knew that she was going to be murdered.

The South African, who was shot dead by Pistorius at the Paralympian's home in Pretoria on Valentine's Day, created a canvas when she was a teenager of herself being violently killed.

During a documentary, due to air on Channel 5 tonight, Steenkamp's parents Barry and June reveal the photos while speaking about their daughter's death.

"Reeva did these pictures when she was 14," the Daily Star quotes her mother June as saying. "They have been in the house a long time now, but we never realised what they were about. But there is a man standing in a field next to a tree and he is holding a gun.

"And then on the other side is what could be Reeva wearing angel wings, and there is a ladder going up to heaven. We never really understood the painting but it almost seems like a premonition. If you look at it, she's petrified."

Pistorius, who was released on bail, will return to court for a hearing on Tuesday on charges of premeditated murder.
