Prosecutors have accused Paralympic champion Oscar Pistorius of premeditated murder following the death of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp at his home in Pretoria last week.
The South African double amputee, who has been charged with shooting the 29-year-old model dead, returned to Pretoria Magistrates' Court today to begin a bail hearing.
Prosecutor Garrie Nel has told the court that the sprinter shot Steenkamp four times, three of which hit her through a locked bathroom door, after allegedly putting on his prosthetic legs and walking seven metres to open fire.
While the prosecution have put their case forward for premeditated murder, Pistorius's defence lawyer Barry Roux, who has claimed that Pistorius denies the charge, insisted that the 26-year-old was unaware that Steenkamp was behind the door.
The prosecution are arguing a schedule six murder charge, while the defence believe that the case is related to a schedule five charge, which is less serious and will give Pistorius a better chance of achieving bail.
The funeral of the former FHM model will take place today.
