Former England international Michael Owen has revealed that he wants to compete in a charity race in the future.
The 33-year-old has been passionate about the sport since buying his first horse Etienne Lady in 1999 on the reported advice of former footballer David Platt.
"I'd like to ride in a race for charity," the Daily Mail quotes Owen as saying. "I've just dusted down one of my first ever horses called Speciali, so he's back at the yard now and my wife's going to teach me the basics of how to sit and how to stop and how to move left and right and everything else."
Owen retired from football at the end of the season following stints at Liverpool, Real Madrid, Newcastle United, Manchester United and Stoke City.
