Greek footballer Giorgos Katidis makes Nazi salute?

Greek footballer Giorgos Katidis appears to make a Nazi salute after scoring for AEK Athens yesterday.

AEK Athens midfielder Giorgos Katidis has sparked controversy in Greece for appearing to make a Nazi salute during a Super League clash.

The 20-year-old, who is believed to have raised his right arm after scoring the winning goal during a 2-1 victory over Veria yesterday, has been banned from the Greek national team for life.

Following the incident, Katidis defended himself on Twitter by saying: "I am not racist in any way. I abhor fascism. I would not have done it if I knew that it meant something. I know the consequences and would not do it ever."

The midfielder is thought to have claimed that he was pointing to injured teammate Michalis Pavlis.
