Paul Gascoigne: '2014 will be my year'

Paul Gascoigne vows to make 2014 his year following a number of incidents relating to his struggles with alcohol.

Former England footballer Paul Gascoigne has vowed to make the most out of 2014 following a tumultuous year.

The 46-year-old has struggled with alcoholism for some time, but things worsened in the summer, resulting in a stint at a rehab facility in the United States.

Following on from his treatment, Gascoigne was fined £1,000 for a drunken assault at a railway station.

Gascoigne wrote on Twitter: "Feeling good... Looking forward to the future. Want to wish you's all a Happy Christmas and good luck to everyone for 2014 Gazza x.

"Plus I never really liked the number 13 so looking forward to 2014. It will be my year x."

Recent reports have stated that Gascoigne is facing eviction from his Bournemouth flat.
