Experts reportedly fear that Formula 1 legend Michael Schumacher could be left in a permanent vegetative state due to the serious head injuries he suffered while skiing in France last month.
The German sportsman is currently in a stable condition in a hospital in Grenoble after he hit his head on a rock while skiing off-piste in the French Alps on December 29.
Despite a positive message from his family yesterday, fears over the health of the seven-time F1 champion grow the longer he is in an induced coma.
According to The Mirror, an Austrian news website has claimed that Schumacher may suffer apallic syndrome or a permanent vegetative state, which will prevent him from being able to speak or feed himself.
The 45-year-old has undergone two operations on his brain.
