Former jockey Jamie Hamblett aims for 'X' Factor success with band Union J

Former flat jockey Jamie Hamblett gives up riding in the hope of becoming a pop star with band Union J after the group got through to the live shows on The X Factor.

Retired flat jockey Jamie Hamblett has switched his riding boots for a microphone after making it through to the live shows on ITV reality show The X Factor.

The 22-year-old, who used to be an apprentice jockey to Sir Michael Stoute, first auditioned for the TV show with friends Jaymi Hensley and Josh Cuthbert as Triple J but were later reformed when George Shelley was added to the group.

The foursome were granted a position in the live shows by judge Louis Walsh and ex-judge Sharon Osbourne in Las Vegas.

Hamblett, who still rides for leading flat trainer John Gosden in Newmarket, will appear with his bandmates in the first live airing of the show on Saturday.
