Former football star David Beckham confirms plans to launch acting career

Former England football captain David Beckham admits that he is prepared for criticism when he embarks on an acting career.

Former England captain David Beckham has confirmed that he intends to carve out a career in acting.

The ex-Manchester United and Real Madrid star retired from football in 2013 following a four-month spell at Paris Saint-Germain.

Since then, Beckham has delved into various fashion campaigns and worked on the launch of his own MLS franchise in Miami, but now, the 40-year-old wants to embark on Hollywood.

The former midfielder, who has already been given a role in Guy Ritchie's Knights Of The Roundtable: King Arthur, has claimed that he is prepared for criticism.

"I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed," Beckham told The Times.

"I know that it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline, and I wouldn't want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it, and doing a lot more practice, but what I have done so far, I have loved. I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have got used to criticism."

Beckham was also given a small role in Ritchie's The Man From U.N.C.L.E..
