Plymouth to welcome back Tom Daley in Olympic celebration

British Olympic diving medallist Tom Daley and gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte will be celebrated in a special homecoming when they return to Plymouth next month.

British Olympic diving bronze medallist Tom Daley is expected to be welcomed by hoards of fans in his hometown of Plymouth on September 19.

The 18-year-old, who won the bronze medal in the 10m platform final at London 2012, will be greeted with an open-top bus parade.

Lithuanian Olympic gold medallist Ruta Meilutyte, who resides in Plymouth for training, will also be honoured in the festivities for her achievements next month.

Council leader Tudor Evans said: "We are a proud city, and we want to honour the fantastic achievements of Tom, Ruta and the other competitors."

Meanwhile, reports have claimed that Daley is wanted by pop band Girls Aloud for their reunion tour next year.
