Canadian Eugenie Bouchard tipped to make millions in sponsorship deals

Nineteen-year-old Canadian tennis player Eugenie Bouchard is tipped by her agent to become more marketable than Maria Sharapova.

Canadian tennis starlet Eugenie Bouchard has been tipped to overtake Maria Sharapova in the marketing stakes.

The former world number one, who has her own brand of sweets, was named by Forbes magazine as the world's richest sportswoman last year after earning £15m.

Sam Duvall, who is the agent of 19-year-old Bouchard, told The Age: "Marketability-wise, I think she can be the most famous tennis player in the world. She's got the personality, she's got the game, she's got the looks.

"I really think she has the ability to be more marketable than Maria. She speaks the two languages (French and English) where the four Grand Slams are played."

Bouchard made a name for herself at the Australian Open by reaching the semi-final of the women's singles, but she missed out on a spot in the final after losing in straight sets to Li Na.
