Belgian cyclist Kristof Goddaert dies after allegedly getting hit by a bus while training in Antwerp.

Belgian cyclist Kristof Goddaert has reportedly passed away after he was hit by a bus while training in Antwerp.

According to the Daily Mail, reports have surfaced claiming that the 27-year-old was run over by the vehicle after he fell while crossing a train track.

A team statement is quoted as saying: " IAM Cycling have lost Kristof Goddaert, an exemplary professional rider and a man of quality.

"We always appreciated his good humour every day, his enthusiasm and his full commitment to whatever he attempted. Our thoughts are with his family and those close to him, and we send them our condolences at this terrible time."

British cycling star Mark Cavendish revealed on Twitter that he was "brought to tears" when he heard the tragic news.
