David Beckham: 'I blew my first pay packet on a BMW'

Retired footballer David Beckham reveals that he "blew" his first big-money pay packet on a BMW.

Retired footballer David Beckham has revealed that he "blew" his first pay packet on buying a BMW.

The 38-year-old has been revisiting his early years in football this week as he promotes new documentary The Class of '92, which focuses on Manchester United's famous graduates.

"My first thing that I spent money on was a BMW," Beckham told Absolute Radio. "That was my first cheque from Adidas, and I just blew the whole thing in one go.

"We started getting a little bit more money than we were in the youth team, you know, I went and blew it. I was still living in digs at the time, and I literally blew all my money on a BMW."

Beckham retired from football in the summer following a five-month stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
