Basketball star Metta World Peace to change name to 'Pandas Friend'

Basketball player Metta World Peace reportedly plans to change his name to 'Pandas Friend' following his move to China.

Basketball player Metta World Peace is reportedly planning to change his name to 'Pandas Friend' after making the move to China to play for Sichuan Blue Whales.

The 34-year-old originally went by his birth name of Ron Artest, but changed it to Metta World Peace in 2011 to spread a message of bringing young people together.

According to Titan Sports, the sportsman, who has previously played for the Chicago Bulls and LA Lakers, plans to make another name change to honour his move to China.

Peace also wrote on the social networking website that he will take his daughter with him to visit some pandas.
