Newcastle United 'fan charged with violent disorder for punching horse'

A Newcastle United fan is reportedly charged with violent disorder after punching a horse in the face following last season's Tyne-Wear derby.

A Newcastle United supporter has reportedly been charged with violent disorder by punching a police horse following last season's Tyne-Wear derby.

Barry Rogerson claimed after the incident that he acted in self defence because the horse charged at him during unsavoury scenes after Newcastle's 3-0 defeat to Sunderland.

The 45-year-old has now been charged for the incident and has been ordered to appear at Newcastle Magistrates' Court on September 9, according to the Daily Mail.

Rogerson was arrested in April.
