Motherwell striker Michael Higdon has admitted that he "should have known better" than to get involved in an altercation which led to his arrest.
The 29-year-old was detained by police on suspicion of assault while at a nightclub in Glasgow just hours after being named Scotland's Player of the Year.
"I wish things hadn't happened the way they did," the Scottish Sun quotes Higdon as saying. "I'm annoyed at myself for getting myself into a situation like that because it's not me.
"I'm not the type of lad who goes out clubbing or to bars. I'm a country-pub type of guy. That's the disappointing aspect of it because I think this was avoidable. I should have known better than getting into that kind of situation."
Meanwhile, the Scottish club are thought to be keen on offering the striker a new contract.
