Paul Scholes joins Manchester United legends for Bayern Munich charity match

Paul Scholes has been confirmed as one of the Manchester United legends to take part in a charity match against Bayern Munich in August.

Manchester United have confirmed that former midfielder Paul Scholes will join a team of ex-players to take on Bayern Munich in a charity match at the Allianz Arena on August 9.

The 39-year-old, who temporarily returned to Old Trafford as a coach to assist then-interim boss Ryan Giggs towards the end of last season, will team up with Dwight Yorke.

Bayern legend Paul Breitner will lead the German outfit for the occasion, which will also include Paulo Sergio, Marc van Bommel and Owen Hargreaves.

Before the match itself, fans will be able to watch the current Bayern team, who were crowned Bundesliga champions last season, take part in an open training session.

The proceeds from the event will go to an Allianz foundation for children.
