Olivier Giroud made the headlines this weekend, but not for scoring goals.
Following recent accusations that the Arsenal striker had cheated on his wife with glamour model Celia Kay in the team hotel just hours before a match, he took to Twitter to apologise for his actions.
The Frenchman, of course, is not the first sportsman to have been outed in the press for their infidelity. Below, Sports Mole has picked out five others that have made a name for themselves in the gossip columns rather than the back pages.
1. Oscar de la Hoya
The 'Golden Boy' admitted in 2011 that drink and drug abuse had resulted in him cheating on his wife of 10 years Millie Coretjer. However, the Los Angeles-born boxer stressed in an interview: "We are obviously not talking a Tiger Woods here, but I was unfaithful."
Prior to his marriage to Coretjer, De la Hoya dated former Playboy model Shanna Moakler. That relationship is said to have ended in 2000, though, after he was spotted on television at the Latin Grammys with another woman.

2. Tiger Woods
So, can De la Hoya be compared to Woods? The truth is, few stories of a cheating athlete have shocked the world like this one. The story goes, according to the New York Post, that upon learning of her husband's affair with Rachel Uchitel in 2009, Elin Nordegren chased Woods with a golf club. The golfer managed to get into his vehicle, but soon after he crashed into a fire hydrant and a tree.
In the weeks that followed, dozens of women came forward to claim that they had slept with the former world number one, who soon after went into rehab for sex addiction. The couple divorced a year later, which is said to have cost Woods around £60m.

3. Ryan Giggs
Where to start with Manchester United's veteran midfielder? It was reported that he had fought hard to keep his alleged affair with Imogen Thomas in 2010 out of the papers with a super injunction, but the news eventually broke. Then, Natasha Giggs, who was married to his brother Rhodri, revealed that she had an eight-year affair with the Welshman.
More recent reports have suggested that Giggs had also been sleeping with another unnamed woman for two years, but that has not been confirmed. Despite all the accusations and rumour, his wife Stacey has so far stood by her man.

4. Tony Parker
In 2010, it was claimed that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria had discovered steamy text messages between her basketball-playing husband Parker and another woman. It later transpired that the female in question was the wife of Parker's San Antonio Spurs teammate Brent Barry.
Speculation at the time hinted that the couple were close to separating due to their hectic work schedules, but news of the affair prompted the actress to file for divorce.

5. John Terry
Like Giggs, Chelsea skipper Terry went down the injunction route in an attempt to keep his antics away from the public eye. It ultimately failed, though, as four years ago it was reported that the centre-back had an affair with the ex-partner of his former teammate Wayne Bridge - the French model Vanessa Perroncel.
When Bridge, then of Manchester City, faced the Blues for the first time since news leaked out in February 2010, he refused to shake Terry's hand. As for Terry himself, he is still with wife Toni.
